we'd, part four. and the saga continues...

i thought i had been "we'd" in every which way. but of course, just when you think you're immune to it , it sneaks up on you and bites you in the aars again.

apoz and i went to running fit in high hopes of scoring at the art (un)fair sales. the sale selection was weak so we got suckered into really needing a new pair of full-priced shoes. i was in search of a second pair of shoes to complement the new asics that i picked up in seattle. so naturally, i sought advice from the sales associate.

and then i got "we'd."

me: i have these asics (pointing to shoes) and i'd like to get another pair of shoes so i can alternate running in them.

sales associate: ok...and what are we training for?

me (confused, if not stunned, at the unexpected "we"): um, a marathon.

sales associate: and when are we running the marathon?

me: uhh, october (thinking, is he running it with me?).

sales associate: and how do we like the asics so far?

me: they're fine, no problems.

sales associate: and how what's been our longest run? and did we have any problems with the asics on the run?

and so on and so forth. god, it's even irritating to write about!
the end result was good - i left with a pair of brooks glycerin. truly, i was drawn to the name after reading this article in the times about training marathoners for the beijing olympics (thanks, ec!)

apoz and i capped off the experience with a huge bag of kettle corn.

can we think of any better way to spend an afternoon?

mo-jitos, please!

off-topic but definitely blogworthy.

the mojitos at this little seattle restaurant were darn tasty, especially after a long, hot day of um, networking?

anywho, i found a very close second at zingerman's roadhouse. and while i'm generally underwhelmed with the roadshow, the mojitos rocked and exceeded all expectations (especially after having a knickerbocker made with real brugal rum).

fyi. now - go crazy!

i won the race!

ha - got your attention? no silly, i didn't really win the race. everyone is a winner for just finishing, right?the 5k race this morning was ok, much better than last year in terms of weather but still very humid. the humidity, combined with the large cup of coffee i gulped down beforehand made me feel a wee bit nauseous. plus, my right t*t was all itchy due to some weird insect that attacked me, dr. apoz, and ec at dominick's the other night (so my mosquito bites have mosquito bites). although i ended up walking for about 10 seconds i still managed to log my pb.

throughout the run i kept thinking to myself, "self, how will i ever get through a marathon? will these new shoes that i laboriously picked out in seattle carry me to my goal? why am i paying a over a dollar a minute to run today? will refueling at northside grill provide the necessary nutrients to help me recover from my runs? why aren't there any fireworks in ann arbor? where are all the other aars?"

the answers are: um, no effing clue. maybe, until i find a better pair which may require another trip to seattle. inexplicable. yes! because throwing a "parade" is cheaper. all doing something much more relaxing...

happy 4th!
